In a world obsessed with productivity, efficiency, and all things AI, this little corner of the internet is dedicated to taking a pause, taking a breath, remembering who we are, and discovering who we could be.
There are little things and big things we can do to nurture our human spark—that little flame we feel deep inside our chest that connects us to Something Bigger.
We are inextricably connected to the universe—because we are the universe. It’s a truth that most of us feel at a young age, but it’s much harder to tap into that certainty in adulthood. One easy way, for me at least, to remember that truth is to look up on a clear night sky in a place far from city lights. Seeing a sky full of stars breaks something inside me open, and the stuff that spills out is awe and wonder and an aching joy that feels like longing.
So how do we hold on to that feeling, or at least find ways to remember it through the course of our daily lives? That’s something I want to explore with you, here. A few ideas to get us started:
We can find ourselves through words. Poetry and literature and the written word. As George Saunders said in a recent NYT interview, “…to me, it’s becoming clear that writing and reading is a way of simply underscoring that human connection is important, that you can know my mind and I can know yours, which is a vastly consoling idea, and we need it.”
Through creativity—with a focus on the act of creating over the creation itself.
Through nature.
Through spirituality.
And of course, through community.
Welcome.
